    State of the BIZZ 8/19/8

Wednesday, August 20, 2008, 04:12 AM EST [General]

Time for another edition of State of the BIZZ!!  Today ill tackle RAW and ECW shows from this week.

    RAW

Not a bad RAW..but it ended bittersweet for me. It was nice to see CM PUNK get mad love in his hometown of Chicago, ILL.  He went all out to give props to his birthplace.  The sports teams in attendance.  Only to have JERICHO take it all away...with the help of LANCE CADE. It was great to see JERICHO and CM hook up again. JERICHO is really on fire nowadays.  But the whole "hitting SHAWN MICHAELS wife" thing....that was a bit disturbing. Rebeka Michaels has been in the wrestling bizz before. Remember the NITRO GIRLS? I always thought Whisper was the best one..tall and busty!! Not to mention graceful.  It makes since that KEVIN NASH would hook SHAWN and her up.  The click is made up of the most talented and contraversial wrestlers of all times...and i love everyone of them. lol So i guess it made perfect sense that my fav NITRO GIRL gets hooked up with my fav wrestler of all times by one of my other faves lol

Back on track tho...I hope there was some "I'm sorry for the snug how-do-you-do" from CHRIS JERICHO to SHAWN and Rebeka backstage.  I don't think it was supposed to be THAT brutal.  Her lip was swollen!! SHAWN is a man of god and decided to keep his fam out of WWE storylines for a reason. For her to come in knowing that JERICHO is supposed to hit her is one thing..but him hitting her that hard is something else. I can imagine SHAWN apologizing alot for what happened. I imagine CHRIS did apologize backstage.  It was hard to look at.

Raw had other moments besides SSlam recaps tho....CRYME TYME Lmao!!! NEW "UNOFFICIAL" WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!!! I love that. I havent seen someone steal a title since SYXX-PAC in WCW lol He stole the cruiserwieght title and wore it like it was his lol  I guess BOOKER T just did that in TNA but it doesnt count cause SAMOA JOE said he could wear it.

Is the BATISTA/CENA feud over? Or hitting steam? CENA said..you were the best man..on that night.  (sigh) I hope this is going somewhere.   GLAMERELLA mania is sweeping RAW lol SANTINO and BETH PHOENIX are an interesting duo.  Too bad D-LO got caught up in the SANTINO/KOFI feud. But it can only get better for him..he got to get a DQ win in his hometown and get somewhat inserted into the I.C. Title picture. I smell a Triple threat title match some time soon.

    ECW

EVAN BOURNE continues to impress me. That hurricanrana he did to THE MIZ of the top turnbuckle was freakin sick! That man has serious "up's" !! WWE has got some talented performers with good vertical leaps...BOURNE, BENJAMIN, KINGSTON....the money in the bank mach at 'MANIA should have all these guys in it. That would be a show indeed.  Nice win for THE MIZ by using a variation of his "REALITY CHECK" neckbreaker on DREAMER. Poor TOMMY. Can he get any respect in ECW?  Nice to see SUPER CRAZY back "home".

<****Y ORTIZ is growing on me. The towel thing is kinda TNAish but it works for him so i can't hate.  The new kid..god i can't remeber his name lol I knew i shoulda wrote it down...he impressed me also. Hope to see more new talent on ECW.

The main event was actually good!! MATT HARDY and MARK HENRY kept me glued to the screen during the match. I was kinda thinking that they wouldnt take the belt offa MARK HENRY that soon...but it was kinda touch an go for a sec in that march lol Very nice match indeed.

---side note---I hope the FINLAY/KNOX match next week is freakin brutal!!!

Thats it for today! Check back Thursday for the TNA IMPACT review!!!

    Till then god bless!!!

P.S.  The team of STRIKER and GRISHAM? Who woulda thought they would ACTUALLY be that good?  lol Priceless...

    Toires and Poverty?

Wednesday, August 20, 2008, 09:09 AM GMT [General]

Shadow Chancellor George Osborne is set to claim the Conservatives are the party best placed to tackle poverty and create a fair society.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7571557.stm

Well excuse me for looking at the calendar and thinking we've already seen April the 1st!

This from a party when in government saw the working class hit hard by several major recessions, millions langushing on the dole, a Party which opposed Labour's Minimum Wage and the policies which have taken a million kids out of poverty.

Osborne is, like Cameron, a millionaire toff who has vast inherited wealth, he has no idea about poverty, let alone tackling it. This cheap gimmick will be laughed off the face of the manifesto as people will wisely wonder what these types know about such things.

Remember Dennis Skinner had the mark when he told us the only things growing in the 80s with these Tories!!

    JARDIN FLORIDO

Wednesday, August 20, 2008, 03:59 AM EST [General]

    EL

    JARDIN FLORIDO!!

There was this young farm lad in Iowa

Wednesday, August 20, 2008, 08:33 AM GMT [General]

The young farm lad was gathering eggs.  One of the hens said, "Young lad, kiss me on the head, and I will turn into a beautiful princess, marry you, and give you half my kingdom."  The farm lad scratched his head, thought on it, and responded, "That is a very nice offer, but we do need the eggs."

Why does Germany right about now remind me of the farm lad?

I actually watched most of ECW tonight

Wednesday, August 20, 2008, 03:31 AM EST [General]

Yeah I know I said ECW is dead to me and it is, but just because it's dead doesn't mean I won't still look at it. Truth be told I only was watching cause I didn't feel like watching the entire Bob Saget roast replay and the Yankees game was all ready over.

It's a good thing ECW is moving to 9PM because once the fall season starts, 10 PM is required viewing time for me of Law & Order SVU. There's also The Sheild but FX wisely replays that. But just because its on at 9 PM is no guarentee I'll actually watch it because most of these shows are hit and miss (much like the Mets bullpen).

I only really wanted to see Hardy vs. Henry because after the abortion at Summerslam they owed us a match and it was pretty good for the most part. I mean Mark Henry can only do so much before he starts sucking wind. The crowd was down right nuclear for Matt Hardy tonight so that was great to see. It's clear to see why ECW's ratings are up a staggering 50% with Matt on the show.

But it annoyed the hell out of me that once again Mark Henry survived another week as champion. I mean we all know why he became champion, but that token reign should have passed a while ago. I know ECW has a minimal roster, but I don't know how much longer they can possibly draw this out. Obviously Matt has to get his one more title shot and logic dictates he would win it then. I guess they have to throw something on the next PPV as if it isn't a train wreck all ready.

On a side note Ricky Ortiz as the clueless idiot who thinks he's hot **** is a great gimmick. I applaude that section that had the rally towels. More people need to bring those to shows.

And the debut of Shawn Spears...excuse me Gavin Spears. Lord knows we the lowly fan would get confused easily if there were two wrestlers with the same first name.

"His name is Shawn, but he's not HBK...". It was a good promo by Gavin though. I loved the "But I have talent" line.

If you want to understand why ECW is the way it is and alot of the WWE for that matter and why we simple wrestling fans will never see a show with more wrestling then entertainment, watch this clip of a shoot interview with Steve Corino and Terry Funk.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67NvhMqY2uY&feature=related

I might be a lowly Internet columnist, but even if I had a promotion I would entrust my television to guys like them over someone who just had a good degree any day of the week.

"Are you looking for answers to questions under the stars" -R.I.P LeRoi Moore

Wednesday, August 20, 2008, 12:25 AM PST [General]

LeRoi Moore, the saxophonist for the Dave Matthews Band, has died at the age of 46.  Moore was seriously injured in an ATV accident in Virginia on June 30th.  The musician suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs but was released, only to go back to a hospital last month due to complications.  LeRoi died unexpectedly this afternoon because of those complications at the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center.  Moore, who lives in L-A, was home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.  It turns out that the Dave Matthews Band is also in Los Angeles today and according to TMZ.com, the group's show tonight at the Staples Center will go on as scheduled.

And now... In Tribute:  My favorite DMB song, "Where Are You Going (Live)"... such a powerful song with beautiful meaning.

    The "F" Word

Wednesday, August 20, 2008, 08:19 AM GMT [General]

This is purely a personal observation and not a judgement.

Waking up too early this morning, I decided to stay in bed and watch the BBC Breakfast News.  Not having been following the Olympics, I didn't realise it was the Breakfast Olympics instead of the usual news programme.

I caught the tail end of the live coverage of the women's wind surfing event ... Team GB's Bryony Shaw was in a Bronze medal position and it was quite exciting to watch.  She managed to hang on to her position and understandably, she was elated and very emotional.

The BBC reporter was there waiting to interview her immediately and it proceeded with Bryony Shaw bawling her eyes out.  All well and good.  Then it came ... "I'm f***ing happy ... " or a sentence to that effect but there was no mistaking the "f" word and the reporter apologised to the viewers with an excuse that it was just a slip of the tongue in the excitement.

It certainly did *not* offend me or even shock me.  What  struck me was how easily this "f" word slides off young women's tongues ... it would seem that whatever programme you watch on TV where young women are interviewed, etc, the number of ‘bleeps' you hear in every sentence is staggering.

As far as I'm concerned, there is a time and place for uttering the "f" word but using it in every sentence in everyday conversation is not it, either for males or females.

    What do you think?

    0 (0 Ratings)

    JP - exactly.

TT - obviously not many but if it was my daughter I'd be absolutely mortified and ashamed, medal or no medal.

p_t - I'd say mainstream TV in the US is more prudish than the UK and agree regarding public swearing, especially by women. [so you have given in and changed your profile name?]

I find its overuse ugly. Where I live, a lot of people use it frequently and completely unconsciously.

    W.W.
When any word is overused it becomes debased. Swear words are no different.
There are times when only a good cuss word is appropriate as when talking about Politicians or Traffic Wardens, but to use them as say, Gordon Ramsey does, is to use them gratuitously, and they lose their impact.
And they should never be used in everyday conversation, although I will admit to the occasional "slippage".
John Patrick sums it up very well.

JP hits the nail on the head. In my army days it was (and probably still is, according to Queen's Regs) a chargeable offence to swear in front of an officer. Now the officers swear in front of their men along with the best of them, and that goes for the female officers – of which there are many – as well.
There is no point in taking the present generation to task over their lack of good taste. For them the f-word is no worse than 'flippin', which we used at the drop of a hat. They don't understand our annoyance and just think we're being fuddy-duddy – which we have to admit we are.
However, we don't have to join them. We can set an example.

I was brought up to believe that ladies do not swear or use this kind of language. I was also brought up to believe that ladies doing so are common & vulgar and not ladies at all.

It may be old fashioned (to some), but I feel its relevance has not been lost through the passage of time.

A little about each of our families!!!

Wednesday, August 20, 2008, 12:18 AM PST [General]

Felix Michael Morua was born on April 26, 1988 to the parents of Francine Penunuri (Morua) and Felix Morua Sr. He has lived in Whittier all of his life along with both sides of his family. Felix has one brother, Matthew, who is currently 17 years old. Felix has always been interested in cars, dirt bikes, and quads. He loves traveling to his families hometown of Parker, Arizona, where he met Lauren, to have some fun in the sun and catch up with some of his life-long friends. Felix graduated from High School in 2006 and currently works in the construction business as a Trench Assistant and a Laborer. Felix is pursuant in continuing his career and becoming a heavy equipment operator.

Lauren Elizabeth Denton wa born on March 11, 1989 to the parents of Donald Denton and Diana Hogenes (Denton). She was born in Lake Havasu City, Arizona but lived in Parker, Arizona. When she was about 4 years old, she moved to Yuma, Arizona where she recently moved from to live here in Whittier with Felix. Lauren has two brothers, Daron and Andrew, and one sister, Thea. Lauren's father re-married to a wonderful woman name Kathy Reed (Denton). She has inspired Lauren through each and every journey. Lauren states that without Kathy in her life...life would be VERY different. Lauren graduated from High School in 2007 and is continuing her education @ a junior college for now. She hopes to transfer to a four-year university to pursue medical insurance billing and coding! Sadly, Lauren had a recent tradegy in her life happen the day before her 19th birthday on March 10, 2008...her mother, Diana, passed away. She is trying to be very strong for her and her family, but we all know that Lauren can overcome anything and everything with the help of Felix and their families. Diana will be missed dearly...and will forever be in Lauren and Felix's heart (along with others hearts, too)

Felix and Lauren met in 2006 @ the La Paz County Fair in Parker, Arizona. Sparks fired and our relationship sprung fromm that night. We began dating on March 23rd of that year. Our relationship since then has not only become stronger but much more lively and exciting. We find out new things about each other each day....and there is never a dull moment in our lives. Our biggest support is from our families. They have always supported us and given the best advice possible. We feel that our families also bring us closer together. Lauren recently gave birth to our daughter, Savannah Lynn Morua, born in Whittier on July 3rd of this year. It is the biggest blessing God has ever bestowed on us. We couldn't think of a much better gift to recieve from above.
